The AlpenGold Hotel in Davos is embedded in the natural metropolis of Davos. The highest town in the Alps stands for tourism, sport, medicine, congresses and research – but also for alpine nature, fresh mountain air, mountain lakes and sustainability in general.

The health-promoting climate of Davos’ mountain air was discovered as early as 1853, Davos has been an energy town since 2001 and is set to become Switzerland’s first climate-neutral vacation resort by 2030. Nature touches us when we leave it untouched. We want to preserve this – for many generations to come.

The AlpenGold Hotel is a partner of Swisstainable, a targeted sustainability initiative by Switzerland Tourism. Sustainable travel does not necessarily mean doing without. Sustainable travel stands for more awareness, enjoyment and depth. Enjoying nature consciously and originally, experiencing local culture authentically, consuming regionally, staying longer and immersing yourself more deeply.Within the Michel Reybier Hospitality Group, each hotel has an internal team dedicated to sustainability and health issues, measures and activities.

Heating and Cooling

At the AlpenGold Hotel Davos, water for the spa and rooms is heated using regional wood from sustainable forestry. CO2 emissions are offset by absorption from growing forests.

Thanks to the mild temperatures in Davos, all hotels manage without air conditioning. Cool nights provide natural cooling.

The underground garage is efficiently heated using waste heat that would otherwise be lost.

Let There Be Light

At the AlpenGold Hotel, lighting installations create a sense of well-being. By the end of 2024, all light sources in public areas and the “back of house” will be converted to LED lighting.

Use our “Master Light Switch” when leaving your room to turn off all lights with one click. Additionally, lighting is reduced at night, supported by motion sensors.

How to Make Your Bed

Standards in the hospitality industry have changed; the number of towels in rooms has been reduced, and laundry is not automatically changed daily. This helps conserve water, energy, and chemicals. You decide.

Soaps, shampoos, and their bottles are transformed into life-saving products through the non-profit organization SapoCycle. The soaps are recycled by people with disabilities and then distributed to improve hygiene conditions for families in need.

From A to B

In decentralized regions, we prioritize sustainable logistics: We pay attention to the origin of products, their packaging, and delivery routes, and prefer to purchase regionally and nationally.

At «atelier VERT», you can discover innovative, local products – ask us about the stories of the producers.

We raise awareness among our suppliers about sustainability, reduce plastic, and consistently recycle paper, glass, metal, and more. PET products are completely avoided.

Food & Food Waste

At «atelier VERT», you can enjoy vegetarian and vegan dishes made with regional ingredients. Since 2025, the restaurant has been certified with the «alpinavera» certification and the «regio.garantie» Level 3 seal.

In connection with this, atelier VERT bears the national “regio.garantie” quality seal for Graubünden. “GraubündenVIVA regio.garantie” identifies regional products that are produced in a region with unique knowledge, passion and dedication. The agricultural ingredients of non-compound products originate 100% from the canton of Graubünden. At least 80% of the agricultural ingredients in composite products come from the canton of Graubünden.

In our other restaurants, we also offer many vegetarian and vegan options. To reduce food waste, we minimize buffets, especially at breakfast, but always offer a selection.

Thirst Quencher

The Davos spring water, sourced from various springs, is healthy and requires minimal transportation effort. It is very low in calcium, allowing us to reduce the use of chemicals in cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, we offer regional mineral water, directly from Graubünden.

Our tea is from organic farming, and our coffee comes from a certified supply chain.

Mobility

Use public transport for your journey. Traveling with SBB and the RhB to Davos offers a unique experience and allows you to immerse yourself in the Grison mountain landscape. We would be happy to pick you up at the station.

If you arrive by electric car, 12 fixed charging stations are available to you free of charge.

With our guest card, you can use all public transport in Davos for free.

Raising Employee Awareness

The staff at AlpenGold Hotel Davos are made aware of environmental consciousness, behavior, and responsibility through a “Green & Health Committee,” which includes members from all hotel departments.

We learn something new every day and welcome your inputs and feedback.

In-house sports shop – Angerer Sport

Angerer Sport & Mode Davos was founded in 1949 by Hans Angerer, who worked as a wainwright, mountain guide, and ski instructor. In 1957, Hans and his wife Leni opened their first sports store. Over the following decades, the company expanded under the leadership of the second generation, Hanspeter and Claudia Angerer. They introduced innovative concepts such as the first children’s sports store in Switzerland. Today, the company operates multiple branches and launched a webshop during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2021.
